Aleshia's First Birthday
(March 23, 2002)

The inspiration (Lulla rattle) and the end result (Aleshia's First Birthday cake)!

[Mommy had fun!]

Grandma made her famous Texas sheet cake and came up with the great idea to use licorice to spell out ALESHIA #1.

[Daddy made his now-famous peanut butter cookies, too.]

"Good Morning! It's my birthday today!"
She KNEW this was her special day!

[Funny story about her outfit...It was windy, so we dressed her in the pink wind suit from Auntie Tracy with a long-sleeve onesie Karin handpainted with the LSZ chunky stamps. On the way to the park, Aleshia had a major diaper explosion! We were only able to salvage the jacket. The "back-up" outfit had pants soooo long, we had to keep rolling them up.]

Isn't her hat adorable?

[Thanks Granpa Jim!]

She really wanted to check out those brightly-colored packages!
Party guests with beautiful Mission Bay in the background.
Singing "Happy Birthday".

[The picnic table was too thick for her legs to fit under it in her chair, so she stood in the chair instead.]

Blowing out the candle!

[The playground was a huge hit!]

Yummy!

[Karin made Aleshia a special cupcake with yogurt on top. Aleshia doesn't like frosting, but she sure likes yogurt!]

"Finally, I get to see what is inside of these colorful packages!"
Opening her gifts on her own. Well, for the most part.
Pictured with all her wonderful gifts. Thanks everyone!
"So big!" was another game Grandma taught Aleshia.
Another view of Aleshia and all of her birthday gifts, except the clothes. When we had those out, she wouldn't sit still for even a second. She LOVES clothes and would take off running with as many garments as she could carry!
